Ann Bright
Ann Bright has always felt it’s important to give back to the community, which is why she started at CUPS more than 20 years ago as a volunteer receptionist. Several years later, she learned more about the need for essential items for new moms and Ann rapidly became known as the Baby Bundle Lady.
Through her own network and connections, Ann has collected thousands of dollars of essential baby items — from toiletries to nursing supplies, handmade baby blankets, newborn diapers, baby clothes and more. Ann and her family have also purchased items out of their own pocket to ensure the baby bundle has everything it needs to support a young mother.
Preparing to become a mother can be an overwhelming time, and even more so if you’re a young mother without a solid support system. Taking care of yourself may be a challenge on it’s own; how do you care for a tiny human as well?
Ann recognized this and it inspired her to continue to work with her church and other companies to create thoughtful packages of essentials. Being able to sit down with the young mothers and let them know they will receive a baby bundle keeps her motivated and determined to maintain this important work as long as she can.
For this and so many other reasons, CUPS is proud to recognize Ann with the Bruce Covernton Community Service Award for 2020.
